Susie King Taylor's Civil War

Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at USC Beaufort
Join ISRE Research Associate Elizabeth Laney as she explores the extraordinary life of Susie King Taylor, Civil War nurse and teacher, who joined the Union Army when she was just 14 years old! The course will use Taylor’s own memoir, Reminiscences of My Life in Camp, and other personal narratives to examine the hidden histories of Black women during the Civil War & Reconstruction in the SC Lowcountry.
