Job description
Campus Recreation attendant (fitness center monitor/court monitor, welcome desk attendant)
Under the immediate supervision of the Director of Recreation & Student Life, the Campus Recreation attendant is responsible for the supervision of the fitness facilities, recreational gym, and its patrons. Monitor is also responsible for opening, closing, and securing the facilities.  They are to provide service and assistance to all participants and are also responsible for the appropriate use and cleanliness of all equipment. All Fitness Monitors/Welcome Desk attendants are required to provide a welcoming, inclusive, safe and enjoyable, service-oriented environment for participants at all times.
Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Welcome, greet, and provide assistance to facility users
  • Swipe patrons into facility with valid USCB ID
  • Issue sports equipment to patrons with valid USCB ID
  • Serve as primary customer service representative for Campus Recreation department.
  • Ensure the facility is a safe and positive environment
  • Understand, explain, and enforce all USCB policies and procedures in a firm, fair, and consistent manner
  • Demonstrate outstanding customer service in all interactions with patrons
  • Be familiar with USCB emergency procedures and be confident in their implementation
  • Be a responder in the event of an emergency
  • General cleaning
  • Other duties as assigned
Job Requirements:
  • CPR/First-Aid/AED certified by first day of employment
  • Good standing with the university, no student-conduct cases
  • Able to work independently
  • Dependable and ability to follow-through with tasks
  • Effective communication skills
  • Excellent customer service skills
Eligibility Requirements
Summer 2026
  • Minimum GPA: 2.5 (cumulative - at end of spring 2026)
  • Must be enrolled in summer classes OR enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours during the spring 2026 term AND Fall 2026 term.
Fall 2026-Spring 2027
  • Minimum GPA: 2.5 (cumulative - at end of spring 2026)
  • Must be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours
  • International students must obtain a social security number
Restrictions
  • Student employees cannot work more than 20 hours per week during the academic term, across all active positions.
Campus Recreation is not responsible for any housing fees.

Application closes April 1. Applications will not be reviewed until the close date; once applications are reviewed, applicants will be notified if they are selected for an in-person interview. In-person interviews will take place April 6-10.

Starting pay is $10 per hour with a $1 raise each year. Position is paid bi-weekly through direct deposit.
