Academic Advising

Candice began working at USCB in 2013 first starting as a Residence Life Coordinator, and later transitioning to Academic Advising in 2017, serving now as the Director of Advising and Academic Success. Originally from a small town, Waterford Wisconsin, Candice enjoys life as a Bluffton resident basking in a snow-free lifestyle and embracing the beach as a Midwesterner living in the south. She shares her home with her husband, dog (Milo), and cat (Callaway). A travel enthusiast, she combines her love of exploring new places with her passion for the ocean as an avid cruiser!

As a First-Generation college student, Candice strives to provide a welcoming and supportive environment for all students seeking additional guidance during their transition into college, including those who are First Generation college students themselves.

Chelsea serves as an Academic Advisor at the USCB since 2021, where she primarily works with Biology majors, undeclared students, and student-athletes. She also teaches University 101 (First-Year Seminar) and University 102 (Academic Recovery).

Chelsea takes a holistic approach to advising, drawing on her background in mental performance coaching to help students strengthen motivation, resilience, and confidence in their academic journeys.

She serves on the Steering Committee for NACADA鈥檚 Advising Student-Athletes Community, where her research focuses on the graduation rates and success of transfer student-athletes. Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, Chelsea now lives in Beaufort with her husband and two daughters. A lifelong sports fan, but mainly LSU, she can often be found cheering on her daughters at soccer games or supporting Sand Shark athletics.

Carlette serves as an Academic Advisor at USCB working primarily with Public Health and Pre-Nursing majors. She is passionate about providing, guiding, and supporting her students with the tools they need to walk across USCB鈥檚 graduation stage.

She began her Higher Ed career in 2017 at the Technical College of the Lowcountry directing a TRIO program supporting First Generation college and students of various income levels as this student population has many unique challenges. For Carlette, being a part of their success journey, seeing students graduate from a 2-year college and move onto a 4-year degree brought great joy. Carlette left TCL and started at Georgia Southern University in an academic advising role continuing her passion for supporting students to achieve their academic goals which she now shares with USCB.

Carlette continues to find joy in assisting her students with the many challenges of balancing work/school/life and guiding them to graduation. She often tells her students, 鈥淚t鈥檚 not how you start, it鈥檚 how you finish.鈥�

Originally from Minneapolis, Minnesota the snow, she misses but walking on the shore of the ocean she loves. In her free time, she enjoys spending it with family, walking in the park, and filling up her closets.

Melissa serves as an Academic Advisor at USCB where she is working with the Business Administration majors. She has a passion for helping college students reach their full potential and being an advocate on their behalf.

Melissa has experience in academic advising, academic affairs, student affairs and residence life. She previously worked in advising at Emory University and Georgia Tech as well as worked in residence life at Georgia Southern University.

Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Melissa has enjoyed her moved to Bluffton with her two cats (Samantha and Dallas) to join her mother living in Sun City Hilton Head. Being a beach lover, Melissa is thrilled to be 30 minutes away from the sun and the sand.
